Luvenia Curtis was born in Longtown, Ms to Leona Gore January 16th 1924. She was raised on a farm by Leroy and Evalena Curtis. At 17 years old she met and married James Charles Avant, they formed a union and married August 19th 1941 they had 16 children 6 died at very early ages. They moved to Cleveland, Ohio Christmas day in 1955 where she worked as a laundry supervisor at Menorah Park she was a dedicated hard worker and loved by all she retired after 30 years. Retirement allowed her to enjoy fishing, gardening and cooking for her large family and friends. Luvenia was a kindhearted person with a heart of gold she loved spending time with her family, her house was always filled with laughter. She leaves to mourn her children Curtis Avant (Eddie Mae), Ruben Avant, Vernice Jackson (Curtis-deceased), Denise Morris (Quentin), Freddie Avant (Laverne), Acquanetta Avant, Polly Avant. And a host of family and friends whom she adored. Proceeded her in death Charles Avant (Diane), Earline Lawson (Peter-deceased), Jonnie Gresham (James). Luvenia had 34 Grandchildren, 57 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great Great Grandchildren.

Luvenia Avant passed January 24, 2015.Funeral service Saturday, January 31, 2015 1030am at Sanctuary Baptist Church, 4004 E.131st. Family will receive friends at 10am. Burial immediately following service at Cleveland Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Public viewing Friday, January 30, 2015 12noon-7pm at funeral home.
