I had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Washington two years ago when I served as the chairperson on the parent committee. She was a inspirational woman and was always open to answer any questions that I or anyone else had. She always carried the most beautiful smile on her face when she was in your presence. May the Lord comfort the family in this difficult time and my prayer are with you.

To the family I am so sorry for you all loss. I meet Ms. Washington back in the mid 80’s in what we use to call the blue building which was Fatima and she was a great woman and care about you and got to know me as a person and she always had a kind word to say to me. We continue to talk when it was necessary about anything that was going on with me. I will truly miss her and her knowledge but this carry on within me. I take a picture with Ms. Washington at my thirty years of working at Catholic Charities Head Start. I also work with her on get the new Fatima Family Center.

I work at the Wayne Office in Wooster OH. Sorry to say, I didn’t know her that well, but the first time I met her, I was very impressed with the way she welcomed me as a new employee of Catholic Charities. You could tell that she had such passion for her involvement with Catholic Charities. Her family and loved ones are in my prayers!

To the family and close friends….please accept my heartfelt condolences.
I had the pleasure to work with Bernadette as she was my immediate supervisor. I last met with her about 2 weeks prior to her becoming ill. During my last supervision meeting, I said to her: “You look healthy and seem to be feeling more like yourself”. She said, Fredy I feel great, I even got my hair back” Bernadette then said, “I feel very much alive”. This last phrase took a whole new meaning for me as I heard the news of her passing. But in all reality my dear colleague is very much alive in the presence of Christ and the Saints. I pray for Christ’s mercy and Grace to cover you as a family as you mourn her passing. I will pray that He may increase your joy and rejoice for her presence with Christ. My deepest Sympathy…..

The sudden loss of Bernadette affects us all. She has been a larger than life presence in our system for so many years. She has helped steer the organization on a path of awareness and meaning, re-enforcing what our mission is all about – everyone who is struggling in our neighborhoods. Bernadette pushed for recognition of the causes that many are blind to. Her contribution changed the culture – one we need to hang on to in her honor. We thank the Lord for Bernadette and her wisdom in all matters related to Catholic Charities. We are so very sorry for her premature loss. We were able to appreciate that she comes from a family rich in spirit and we have been the beneficiaries. I have been so blessed to have worked alongside Bernadette for all the years she has been at Catholic Charities.
