Mae Ruth Gooden was born Mae Ruth Zachery February 16, 1935 to Major and Mae Ruby in Fayette, GA.

Mae was the fourth child of eight children.

Both of her parents and four brothers: Robert, Bemis, Willie T, Major Jr. and two sisters Edna, Sarah Ann proceeded her in death.

Mae married Charlie Gooden Jr. on April 5, 1951. To their union five children were born: Charlie III, Larry Ora Dean, Gloria and Joyce. Her husband and daughters Ora Dean, Gloria proceeded her in death.

Mae and her husband moved to Cleveland, OH in 1956 where she worked as a cook at numerous restaurants around the city. Mae was a great cook and was loved by all her customers.

She loved to travel to her home town Georgia to visit family and friends during the summer months.

Mae was a faithful member at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church for over 40 years.

Mae love to do a lot of things like planting flowers and getting her garden together. She also enjoyed cooking and making pies and her own jam. She loved to be around her family and friends laughing.

Mae was called home Wednesday, September 24^th surround by her family. She leaves behind her family. She leaves behind one sister Nellie Higher (Fayetteville, GA), two sons, Charlie (Yvonne) Larry; daughter Joyce, eleven grandchildren, TaDarrell, Cordell, Nicole, Kelliee, Jakeena, Terrence (Keisha), Laurie, Beverly (Donnie), Janika, Willie and Jarea; nineteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Mae will be missed dearly by her family and friends.

Public viewing Monday, September 29, 2014 12n00n-7pm at funeral home. Funeral service Tuesday, September 30, 2014 11am at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, 3232 E.128th St. Family will receive friends at 1030am.
